Mission Statement

Saints John and Paul School is a co-educational, Roman Catholic school for grades Pre-Kindergarten to 8 that is committed to providing quality, affordable education.  Our administration, faculty, parish and parents are dedicated to building a school family for our children that encourages academic excellence, emphasizes respect for human values, elevates concern for community needs and incorporates our Catholic faith into our every day lives.  At Saints John and Paul School, we endeavor to open students’ hearts as well as their minds.

History of Saints John & Paul

Saints John and Paul Parish was established on July 19, 1949.

Msgr. John J. Flynn, named pastor by His Eminence, Frances Cardinal Spellman, celebrated the first masses on September 11, 1949 at the Weaver Street Fire House before 911 men, women and children. The Church, later constructed on land purchased from the Hoffman family, opened in 1952. The Hoffman house was then converted into the rectory and a stable was refurbished into a chapel, St. Mary's Chapel, for daily Mass.

On September 8, 1952, the doors of Saints John and Paul School were opened to Kindergarten, First, Second and Third grades. Six years later, the school hosted classes for all the elementary grades.

It took the dedication and hard work of many volunteers who assisted Msgr. Flynn, and all subsequent pastors, to develop the prestigious Saints John and Paul Church and School  in the Archdiocese of New York.
